Cochise Co., Arizona, is located in the far southeastern corner of Arizona. It's named for the famous Indian Chief who ruled and fought here, and is a land of volcanic caldera, ghost towns, desert grasses, and mesquite and oak trees at elevations of up to 10,000' . Kartchner Caverns State Park is about 10 miles south of Benson and I-10, and has some recently-discovered spectacular and unspoiled cave formations. Willcox, Arizona is 30 miles west of Benson on I-10.

By the 1970s mines in the county petered out after yielding 2 billion dollars in silver, gold, copper, zinc, and lead. The giant open pit Copper Queen Mine (1 mile x 1.3 miles x 950'), near Bisbee, is a sight to behold. The OK Corral in the town of Tombstone is OK, too. Tombstone is 16 miles northeast of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
