Ventura Harbor, Ventura, California Ventura is a coastal city between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. It is hemmed in by the Sierra Madre Mountains to the north and the Santa Barbara Channel to the south. Mission San Buenaventura was founded here 1782 and still stands.

Ventura Harbor Village is full of shops and has a marina. Available at Ventura Harbor are harbor cruises (weekends), and paddle boat and kayak rentals.

The Visitor Center for off-shore Channel Islands National Park is located at Ventura Harbor Village. The Park Visitor Center has a indoor tide pool, a 3-story observation tower, and information on how to access the park by boat. No public facilities are the park islands, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and San Miguel Islands.
