-the magnolia plantation bed and breakfast inn is a completely restored 1885 french second empire. The owners who live on site purchased the house in 1990 and opened Gainesvilles first bed and breakfast inn in 1991. the continue to live on site with their collie dog and love bird. The inn is located in the residential district of downtown Gainesville and is a 6 minute walk to many fine restaurants and shops. The magnolia plantation is situated on 1.5 acres of gardens with a pond water falls and a gazebo. What makes this inn unique are the 6 historic cottages that have been purchased and restored into guest cottages. The cottages have everything one could want or imagine. Some have jacuzzis and fireplaces kitchens and porches. Some of the cottages accept children and some accept pets. The carriage house has a wrap around veranda with a fireplace in the bedroom area and a fireplace in the bathroom where your jacuzzi fills up by way of a stacked stone waterfall. Beths courtyard has a private landscaped courtyard with 2 water features. The large glass enclosed tile shower is what makes this cottage a perfect place for business travelers. High speed wireless internet is available throughout the property. Breakfast at the inn is either served in the main house dining room or bugger style on the patio outside the summer kitchen. Wine and nibblies are served every evening in the main house parlors where you can mingle with other guests or have the innkeepers suggest ideas for dining.
