Foster City, California is a bayside community located near the San Mateo Bridge (92 freeway), east of San Mateo and north of Belmont. Foster City was once a mud-flat salt bed. It was diked and drained starting in the 1950s for a 4 square mile planned peninsula community and man-made "lagoons." The project was hampered by high taxes, lawsuits, and political incompetence.
